An article in the Birmingham Business Journal states that three banks in Alabama have made the top 200 in a list compiled by U.S. Banker Magazine’s ranking the country’s top performing community banks.

“Henderson Bancshares of Troy ranked the highest of Alabama’s banks at 31st place, RBC Inc. of Demopolis came in at 42nd and Auburn National Bancorp placed 72nd. The list ranks publicly traded banks with less than $2 billion in assets.

In order to produce the list, the magazine looked at the average return on equity for banks over the past three years.
