A report in MarketWatch states that “a leading banking industry trade publication has ranked 24 Pennsylvania banking companies – more than any other state – among the top 200 community banks in the United States.”
The annual ranking, which is based on the past three years’ average return on equity, is compiled by SNL Financial LC and published by U.S. Banker Magazine.
Steve Kaplan, Secretary of Banking, stated, “Pennsylvania banks are feeling the stress of the national economic recession, but clearly are handling the crisis well compared to their peers in other parts of the country.”
