M&T Bank names president for central Va.

The Richmond Times-Dispatch reports that Robert Newton has been named as the president of the central Virginia area for M&T Bank.

“In his new role at M&T Bank, Newton has regional responsibility for commercial banking, business banking, retail banking, commercial real estate and investments.”

Newton has been working in the banking industry for over 30 years. His new position at M&T comes as a result of a merger between Provident Bank and M&T.
